The solemnity of the body and blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)

"I am the Bread of Life"
Gospel: John 6: 51- 58

Dear Friends,
Today's feast is about the bountiful generosity of God and it is also about the deepest description of who we are as the church: We are the Body of Christ.

During the celebration of the Eucharist, we present the most ordinary of things of God; Bread and Wine; fruit of the earth and work of our hands. God accepts, blesses them and then through the power of the Holy Spirit they become the body and blood of Jesus.

God then surprises us even more and returns these new gifts to us out of love. Our response can only be gratitude. May we never take this greatest of gifts for granted. We didn't earn it, it's not our298a33_722a0327793748149dc3f4e388d8f70c_mv2 right and we can not demand it. It is God's gift given freely out of love to each one of us. As Pope Francis reminds us, The Eucharist is not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.

In celebrating the feast of Corpus Christi, we are called to become the body broken and the blood shed for the life of the world just as Jesus. Corpus Christi is to become what we eat, to be another Christ for the world, to be Eucharistic in our self giving love, in our reaching out and in our embrace of all people in the way Jesus shares himself with us.

Thus this solemnity touches the very essence of our Faith. Today, we give thanks for this gift of Christ's body and blood.More importantly we strive to imitate the selfgiving nature of our God himself. As we celebrate and consume the Eucharist, let us commit ourselves to this journey of transformation brought about by the Eucharist. May we grow daily into Christ who reaches out to all people and gives himself fully for the life of the world.

Lastly, we invited and challenged in every Eucharist to take what we have experienced around the altar out and live it in our ordinary lives with each other. The love of God made visible through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Please be blessed
