GOSPEL: Luke 19:1-10
Dear friends,
The story of Zacchaeus in the gospel is a true indication that the merciful Christ comes to seek and save us. Irrespective of all human obstacles, the courage and humility of Zacchaeus attracted the attention and mercy of Christ to him. He refused to be limited by the crowd or allow his shortcomings to be a hindrance to his salvation. He saw mercy and salvation, and immediately took advantage of them.
In life, there are many obstacles preventing us from seeing Christ. If we make frantic efforts as Zacchaeus did, Christ will certainly notice us and show us his loving mercy. Therefore, we must rise above all obstacles that prevents us from seeing Christ and receiving his mercy. We must not allow any obstacle prevent us from seeing Christ.
Jesus’ invitation to follow His way of living is an invitation to change the way that we live. In order to follow Jesus, we must begin by changing our own vision of what real life is about. We must recognize that real life is about loving others and not about getting our own personal pleasure, joy and happiness. Many children in the CARITAS program need our love and support. Let us renew our commitment to Jesus and follow what He has taught us. Let us rejoice in God’s Love (caritas) and learn how to love and forgive one another.
God Bless,
Rev. Father Frank Kyazze
