I’ve wanted to go to Africa for a really long time. And I mean a really, really long time. So much so that when I was almost fifteen I started volunteering with CARITAS For Children. Mr. Christopher Hoar was the only person involved in charity work who decided to take a chance by letting me help out — everyone else told me to wait until I was eighteen, or even older.

After three months, our time here in Uganda is coming to an end. With one day left before we return to the land of ice cream and cheese, we have been reminiscing over our experiences and memories of our internship. We have had a wonderful time and made so many friendships and memories we will cherish forever.

International Classroom Connection for Child Sponsorship Programs

One of CARITAS For Children’s main purposes is to nurture the relationships formed between sponsored children in Africa and their sponsors in the United States. A very beautiful example of how a relationship has advanced greatly is the one between the classes at an American Catholic school – St. Boniface School – and their sponsored “sister” Flavia.
