Dear friends,
Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, celebrating the moment when forty days after his resurrection, Our Lord Jesus Christ ascended in glory into heaven, to return to his heavenly throne, triumphant and victorious in the sight of all his disciples who witnessed the events and testified about it on their mission.
After Jesus's Ascension, What are we to do? Do we sit around and wait for something to happen or do we go and do something?

Gospel: John 14:15-21
Dear friends,
As we approach the feast of the Pentecost, the church invites us to celebrate the coming of the advocate. Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit, the advocate. However, He gives a condition for receiving the advocate;" If you love me you will keep my commandments and I will not leave you orphans!!!!
At some point in life, we all want or even need to hear these words. They speak directly to some of our greatest fears and challenges; abandonment, isolation, loneliness. They remind us that we are not destined to walk this earth without an identity or direction. We do not stand alone!!!!
To be sure there are seasons of life, moments, when the transitions, changes and tragedies can leave us feeling as orphans. Whether spoken or unspoken the questions begin; After this lockdown of Covid-19, what will I do now? What happens next? Who will stand by my side? What will become of me? These are the orphan's questions. Indeed, any one who has ever loved and lost a spouse, a child, or a friend knows these orphans questions.
Gospel: John 14: 1-12
Dear friends, On this fifth Sunday of Easter, Jesus after sharing one of his last moments with his disciples, tells
them that He would leave them soon and naturally, this made his disciples feel fearful and anxious.
In their hearts the future seemed very uncertain. They had very many questions; Why did the master have to leave them? Why could he not stay with them longer? What will become of them after he is gone?
A troubled heart seems to be part of the human condition. We deal with one problem and along comes another. When we don't have any serious worries in the present, we are often anxious about what might happen in the future.
Today most of us are not strangers to being troubled and anxious.

Today we celebrate the Good Shepherd Sunday.
In the Gospel Jesus says is the good Shepherd. He saying so because He is the one who defends us, takes care of us, makes us feel secure, never loses us, and He even lays down his life so that we may have life to the full.
This is the challenge Jesus poses to each one of us; parents, mothers, fathers, family heads, guardians, church leaders, government, Caritas for children members etc.
As Jesus looks at the world today, he sees a world that is in a leadership Crisis . A world that is Shepherd-less. A society in economic Crisis, political unrest, wars, social decay and the global epidemic of Corona Virus. However, some of our leaders have left us down! When we look around in this time of Crisis; we wonder, where the good Shepherd are?
Where are our good leaders?
