GOSPEL: JOHN 20:19-23

FAN INTO FLAME THE GIFT OF GOD

Dear Friends,

The Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples who had gathered in Jerusalem as Jesus had instructed, not simply to remind them that he was still with them, but for the purpose of empowering and equipping them to be witnesses to the grace of Jesus Christ and His saving love.

Today, we live in a divided world of broken nations, economics, politics, religions, cultures, languages and differences. Through the conduit of our wisdom, fortitude, knowledge, piety, counsel, understanding and fear of the Lord, we want to let this fire of love burn away the darkness of hatred, racism, division, violence, terrorism, war, injustices and inhumane activities in our homes and work places.

May 26, 2019 - The Sixth Sunday of Easter - Feast of St. Philip Neri

Dear Friends,

I wrote this reflection on my journey back home after a month’s visit to the U.S.A.. The pain of separation that the disciples went through when Jesus left was likely paralleled by my own pain as I said “good-bye” to my new & old friends, comrades and CARITAS Family in the states. I will return to Uganda with much Love in my heart and great hope for the future of our CARITAS children.

And now, the weekly reading for this upcoming Sunday...

The Message of God's Love

Posted by Rev. Father Frank Kyazze on May 15, 2019 12:35:32 PM

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34).

On the eve of the terrible crisis of the cross, Jesus gathers His followers around Him to teach them the last lesson on love. On this night, he gave them his last will. Jesus sums up all Christian teachings in a couple of short, simple sentences: “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”

His great love, concern and compassion compels Him to go even further and show His disciples the way of love through dying for us on the cross; the ultimate way of love. At the end of the day, when all the doctrine has been debated, when all the traditions have been lived out, when all the hymns have been sung and the liturgy celebrated, we are left with just one thing: love. It’s all about love in the final analysis, love is all that is important.
