We can see God’s call to action fulfilled when we consider the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi teaching youngsters in CARITAS’ Catholic child sponsorship programs in Uganda on a daily basis. Children are liberated when they receive an education and the sisters bring that freedom to the children.

Who do you trust?  It is more than an old game show, it is an important question we wrestle with.   We are in the middle of an election campaign.  Politicians do constant polling to try to appeal to the electorate.  Both major political parties have taken their research of the electorate, and are promising people basically what they think they want.  One of the issues voters wonder about is who will deliver on their promises.  “Trust me! You can’t trust him or her!”  Inevitably I hear all this incessant political chatter against the background of the Gospel.
